Sure if the appointment was 2 weeks ago, I think it’s still recent enough that your note won’t seem out of context or irrelevant.

I think any form of acknowledgement is better than none. Thank you cards are great especially when they have a handwritten note in them. It shows that you took time to personally reach back out. I use them myself.
